Lisa Dayan, RVT

Lisa is originally from Memphis, TN.  Lisa has known ever since she was 6 years old that she wanted to work with animals. She became a veterinary assistant at the age of 16 and used those skills to help support her while she attended college.

She attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (Go Vols!!) for 2 years before going home to finish her Bachelor's degee in Biology with a concentration in Vertebrate Zoology at the University of Memphis. She went to work for the University of Tennessee, Memphis after graduating in 1996. Marriage in 1999 brought her to Louisiana, where she worked for Louisiana State University, New Orleans as a surgical technician in the Department of Animal Care until the start of 2006.

Lisa joined us in February 2006. Hurricane Katrina made her realize that life is too short to not do what you love. In May 2006, with the help of Dr. Edwards and the rest of the vets, she started taking classes to become a registered veterinary technician. She took and passed her national exam in January 2009 and graduated with an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from Cedar Valley College in May 2009. Working as an RVT is a passion for her and she knows that this was one of the good things that was a direct result of Hurricane Katrina.

Lisa and her husband Nathan have a calico cat named Mickey and a 56 pound lap dog named Leo.
